Definitely keeps water out and i like the fact that they come in various colours including some bright colours - used the orange bag for my food bag on an overnight hiking trip and it was really easy to spot (so i wouldn't miss it in the morning) when i strung it up in a tree to keep the bears away.

These bags are awesome and well made! I use them for multiple purposes and have one in each size. I've used the small one to keep cell phones, wallets etc...dry while river tubing.

Only good things to say about this company! I received the bags quickly and I am very happy with their quality, durability and material. Moreover, one of the bags was defective (only a small issue with the clip), so Gear Out There quickly sent me another one to replace it. Their customer service reps were nice and friendly, and they even emailed me to confirm that I had receive the replacement.
